Why does Forrest-Pruzan Creative playtest games?
We regard our playtesters as an essential part of our creative process. Feedback gathered from our play sessions can either validate our creations or send us on a different path altogether.
What is the age range of the playtesters?
Playtesters range in age from three-year-olds to adults. Our games are typically for two or more children (or sometimes just a child and one of his or her parents). With games for more than two players, we request that you assemble a group of friends (think of it as a playdate!) For us, this method provides an accurate read on how real friends and family play together. Groups of strangers playing together can skew the test results because it’s not how most games are normally played in real life.
What happens during a playtest?
We’ll teach you the rules of the game and then let you play. Our playtests usually last for one hour, after which we ask children
and their parents for honest opinions on the game and suggestions
We have passive wall-mounted video cameras that record our playtests for internal purposes only. These recordings will NEVER
be used for public broadcast. They are solely used to keep our creative team members who are unable to attend the session informed on the test findings. These recordings are archived internally after the project is complete.
What are the requirements for becoming a playtester?
Our main requirement for playtesters is that they have an interest in playing board games with friends or family. This might be just a casual interest, as in playing a game of Cranium or Monopoly every so often.
It could also mean that you play games all the time. Regardless, we are always looking for kids, adults, and families who are willing to give us honest opinions on the games they playtest.
Sometimes we'll be working on a game that requires a base knowledge of a specific activity. For example, we once worked on a Major League Baseball game, and because it dealt with statistics, we screened our playtesters for baseball fans. Most of the time, however, we just want folks to come in and give our games a whirl.
Where does Forrest-Pruzan Creative playtest?
Playtests are held at our game studio in the University District neighborhood of Seattle. Our playtesting facilities are designed to look and feel like a home living room to promote a relaxed, familiar environment.
How does Forrest-Pruzan Creative choose playtesters?
We run an age query from our database to invite families with kids of the appropriate age for the game. We also post on our Facebook page asking for playtesters within a certain age range.
When does Forrest-Pruzan Creative hold playtest sessions? How do I find out about them?
We have a flexible testing schedule and work with families to find
a day and time that works best for all of us. We generally schedule play tests Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00AM and 5:00PM.
The best way to hear about upcoming playtesting opportunities
is by ‘Liking’ us on Facebook. When you hear about a playtest that sounds interesting, just respond to firstname.lastname@example.org to get in on the fun! You can also join by filling out the form on our site or sending an email to email@example.com, and then we’ll add you to the list.
What else should I know about playtesting?
We ask all participants to sign a non-disclosure agreement. This is a legal contract that you agree to which states that you will not tell anyone (or post on the Internet) about the game you played with us.
Forrest-Pruzan Creative NEVER distributes any playtester contact information. This is closely guarded here, and we respect your privacy!
All families who playtest our games will receive a complimentary
copy when it is published. Most of the time, you will get the game
weeks before it appears in stores!
